Care for the Elderly

One of our Readers, Brenda Webb, takes primary responsibility for pastoral care of older people within St John’s and also for our involvement with the elderly in Our Parish and beyond.

Meetings and Services

There is a fellowship meeting at sheltered accommodation in the Parish once a fortnight and once a month there is also a service.

House Groups

There are two afternoon house groups which serve older people.

Pam's Pantry

On the first Tuesday of each month a team of helpers lead by Pam Moseling prepares a three course lunch for the elderly at the Boy’s Brigade Hall. The lunches are attended by about 30 people and Peter the vicar usually gives a short talk after lunch.

Holiday at Home

Each year we also run a 'Holiday at Home' event in the church for older people.
