London City Mission
Serving Christ in the City — The London City Mission exists to share with the people of London, patiently, sensitively and individually the transforming love of God in Jesus Christ, and to enable them to join his Church.
Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS)
Laurence Gamlen continues to be busy as a CPAS consultant supporting churches across the South East of England and London in their pastoral and outreach ministries. The work has become even more demanding as it now involves two roles, Ministry Advising, and heading up the team of Ministry Advisers.
The Church Pastoral Aid Society (CPAS) exists to inspire and enable churches to reach everyone in their communities with the good news of Jesus Christ.
Wycliffe Bible Translation
Jock & Katie Hughes — Wycliffe UK, together with partners worldwide, aims to see a Bible translation programme begun in all the remaining languages that need one, by 2025. We at St John’s support the Hughes family who, for the past 20 years, have been working with a local team in South East Asia, translating key passages of scripture into the various languages of that area.
Tearfund
Christian Action with the World's Poor — Tearfund is a leading relief and development charity, working in partnership with Christian agencies and churches worldwide to tackle the root causes of poverty. The aim is to bring 50 million of the world’s poorest people out of poverty during the next 10 years.
Areas of work include; Improving food production and food security, Increasing self-sufficiency, Improving basic services (health, water, sanitation), Providing practical relief when disasters strike, Persuading governments to cut greenhouse gases, Helping poor communities cope with the impact of climate change, Campaigning for fairer international trade.
Middle East Media
Middle East Media is a unique, strategic, ministry which has been operating for over 30 years across the region. We produce many different Bible-based publications and programmes for distribution and broadcasting through a wide range of media. With a focus on North Africa, the Arab Peninsula and the Middle East, MEM specialises in producing high quality family TV programs, as well as developing opportunities in new media such as websites and mobile phones.
Concern
Peter & Julia Baynard Smith and their four children are currently based in Ireland. Pete is the Asia Regional Director for the International Development Agency, Concern Worldwide.
Greenwich Youth for Christ
Taking good news relevantly to young people in Greenwich — The mission of GYFC is to enhance the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of young people. Our projects serve the needs of young people within the borough of Greenwich enabling them to grow holistically through choice and change. Current Projects is the weekly drop-in on the Ferrier Estate, the Violence Intervention Project working with primary age children and parents; Impact which focuses on work in schools; Fusion/Enable developing young people to be youth work volunteers in local churches
St John’s Tanzanian Project
Economic Sustainability and Development in Tanzania — St John’s Tanzanian Committee’s vision is to see economic sustainability and development in Tanzania and to build effective links between St John’s and the Diocese of Mara, Tanzania.
2008 marks our 15th year of working with the Diocese in various projects, and the 7th year since the Cathedral was built [Click here to find out more].
